Dr. Kristina Sowar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at The University of New Mexico, specializing in behavioral health, such as caring for individuals with eating disorders, and served as a liaison for the consideration of electroconvulsive therapy in children and adolescents. Sowar is also the Program Director for the UNM School of Medicine’s General Psychiatry Residency program and co-director for the School of Medicine’s Office of Professional Wellbeing.

Her work has been showcased in the Journal Article twice and has won three teaching awards since 2019.
